Dr. Raymond Kong, Ph.D. in Oriental Medicine. A licensed acupuncturist, and nationally board certified by National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Dr. Kong is the descendant of Confucius (Kong Zi 孔子) and the eighth generation acupuncturist of an influential medical family in China. His acupuncture and Chinese medicine training started at the age of six under the guidance of his mother and grandfather who were both prominent doctors. When he was a teenager, he has started taking care of his grandmother with acupuncture, acupressure and cupping treatment. He graduated from one of the most prestigious Oriental Medical School at Dongguk University. He earned both Master and Ph.D. degree in Oriental Medicine, and had completed several hospital externship trainings and residency programs in China, South Korea, and U.S. He dedicated himself to learning new acupuncture techniques from well- known acupuncturists and volunteering for community clinics. During his internship at the University Pack Health Center at the University of Southern California, many patients were very fond of his kindness and technique, and he was the frequent winner of the Outstanding Intern Award.
With his solid foundation of both eastern and western medical disciplines, Dr. Kong has earned trust from many primary medical doctors at the St Joseph Mercy Hospital and the University of Michigan Hospital, who then routinely refer patients to him. Many doctors were amazed at the effectiveness of Dr. Kong’s acupuncture treatment and began to work with him, integrating eastern and western medical technique to achieve better results. During his time practicing acupuncture in Ann Arbor, Dr. Kong has been a guest lecturer at the University of Michigan and has done a lot of work with the Athletic Department. Many athletes have been seeking regular acupuncture treatment from him to get relief from injuries and stresses, and their successful stories make Dr. Kong a regular invited guest to the many sport events and a true Michigan fan. Dr. Raymond Kong has educated medical students about Chinese medicine while they were interning.
As a Michigan representative for the National Guild of Oriental Medicine Dr. Kong is willing to share his medical knowledge and acupuncture techniques with the larger community. He values integrity and patients’ overall well being, providing permanent restoration of health without side effects.
